Update 2/27/15:
Jamestown now has two registration fields: New Employees and Volunteers. New Employees are required to take, and will receive, Parts I-III, as indicated below. Volunteers are only required to complete, and will only receive, Child Abuse Prevention Training for Volunteers

Part I: New Employee Orientation

  1. Welcome: If this is your first time opening the course, read the message at bottom right and click “Continue.” If you are coming back into the course, you can either click “Continue From Where I Left” or “Start Over”. If you choose to start over, you will have to redo all information you’ve previously completed. Once you click Continue, audio will begin to play. After audio is complete, the next button in the bottom right corner will become enabled. Click it to continue.

  2. Intro Video: Must watch video, then the course will automatically move to the next page.

  3. Y Mission: TMust listen to all audio and watch animations on-screen. After the audio and animations are complete, click next to continue (as indicated by the pop-up.)

  4. Y Voice: Must listen to all audio and watch animations on-screen, then next will become enabled.

  5. Core Values: Must click on each of the images at right side of screen (4 total) before next is enabled. After each is clicked and the audio is completed for each item, a checkmark will appear on the image. When all four images have been clicked, and all audio is complete, next will become enabled.

  6. Timeline: A red timeline bar appears at the bottom of the screen with 9 orange circles. You must click each of the orange circles and listen to all audio associated with each circle. A checkmark will appear over the orange circle when the audio is complete. Once all 9 checkmarks are showing, next will become enabled.

  7. Branches: Listen to intro audio, then roll over each branch to see where it is located on the map. Click each branch to learn more about it. You must click each branch, and listen to all audio about each branch. When each is complete, a black checkmark will appear on the button for that branch. After all branches are complete, and all checkmarks are showing, next will become enabled.

  8. Staff Promise: After the intro audio, 6 numbers appear to the left. Click each of them and listen to the audio entirely. Once each of the 6 are complete, they turn from purple to blue. When all are blue (when audio has played out for each), next will become enabled.

  9. Harassment Policy: This section has 5 subsections. You must click the tabs at the bottom right of the shape on screen to move between sub-sections.

    • Intro/Zero Tolerance - Must listen to intro audio. Then, click the tab on the bottom right of the red shape on screen (to which the arrow that appears is pointing).

    • Definition of Harassment - Definition and 4 buttons will appear (Physical, Verbal, Written, and Sexual). Click through each of these different types of harassment. Once you click all 4 buttons (each type of harassement), the orange tab on the bottom right of the red shape will be clickable. Click the orange tab to continue.

    • Reporting a Claim - Listen to audio and read text from screen, then click the yellow-orange tab at bottom right of shape.

    • Confidentiality - Listen to audio and read text from screen, then click the yellow tab at bottom right of shape.

    • Corrective Action - Listen to audio and read text from screen, then next will become enabled.

  10. Employee Handbook: After the intro audio, each of the tabs of the handbook (on right side of screen; 10 total tabs) will become enabled; click each of them, one at a time. You must listen to all audio to complete each tab. A white checkmark will appear on each completed tab. Next will become enabled after all 10 tabs are complete. Tab 8, Employee Complaint Procedure, and Tab 10, Membership and Child Watch Services, have additional requirements for completion:

    • Tab 8, Employee Complaint Procedure, requires you to download Whistleblower Policy PDF, then click the button labeled

    • Tab 10: After audio, you must click “Full-Time Employees” and “Part-Time Employees” buttons on the screen.

  11. FAQs: Must listen to audio before next is enabled. Can view the questions/answers but is not required.

  12. Next steps: Listen to audio and follow the on-screen instructions to start Part 2.



Part II: Employee Safety and Risk Management

  1. Welcome: If this is your first time opening the course, read the message at bottom right and click “Continue.” If you are coming back into the course, you can either click “Continue From Where I Left” or “Start Over”. If you choose to start over, you will have to redo all information you’ve previously completed. Once you click Continue, audio will begin to play. After audio is complete, the next button in the bottom right corner will become enabled. Click it to continue.

  2. Accidents and Injuries: Must listen to introductory audio, then 5 buttons will appear under “Steps to follow if an injury occurs.” You must click each of the 5 maroon/red steps’ buttons, and listen to audio for each. After a yellow checkmark has appeared next to each, the next button will be enabled.

  3. Bloodborne Pathogens: Must listen to audio before you can click the 4 red buttons on the left of the screen. A maroon checkmark appears in top left corner of buttons when each is completed. When all four checkmarks appear, next will be enabled. Completion requirements are different per sub-section:

  • Bloodborne Pathogens Definition - Must listen to audio

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Must listen to audio

  • If Exposed - Listen to audio and click each of the 4 numbered steps’ buttons

  • Exposure Control Plan - Must listen to audio

  • BBP Quiz: 9-question quiz. Select your answer, hit submit, and feedback appears. Click “next question” until you finish the quiz. Then, you will be able to move on. You do not need to pass this quiz to continue, but must complete it. After the quiz, you will be able to review your responses if you return to this page.

  • Hazard Communication and SDS: Must listen to audio, then click the red-orange buttons at left side of screen. Red checkmarks appear at top left of completed sub-sections. Once all four checkmarks appear, next is enabled. Completion requirements are different per sub-section:

    • SDS contains… - Must click each of the 3 numbered buttons that appear and listen to audio

    • What to consult the SDS - Must listen to audio

    • Reading the SDS - Must click the 16 buttons

    • Other Important Points - Must listen to audio

  • Hazard Communications Quiz: 10-question quiz. Select your answer, hit submit, and feedback appears. Click “next question” until you finish the quiz. Then, you will be able to move on. You do not need to pass this quiz to continue, but must complete it. After the quiz, you will be able to review your responses if you return to this page.

  • Employee Safety: Must listen to audio, then click the 2 yellow buttons at left. Orange checkmarks appear at top left of each button when completed. After both checkmarks are showing, next will be enabled. Completion requirements different for each:

    • Preventing Minor Accidents - Must listen to audio, then click each of the 6 steps and read the information that appears.

    • Working in a Safe Environment - Must listen to intro audio, then will be able to click each of the 5 numbered buttons. Must listen to audio for each of the individual 5 buttons (and separate orange checkmarks will appear at top left of each numbered button.) When all 5 are showing, checkmark will appear for Working in a Safe Environment.

  • Next Steps: Listen to audio and follow the on-screen instructions to start Part 3.



  • Part III: Child Abuse & Maltreatment Prevention Training (or Child Abuse Prevention for Volunteers)
    NOTE: The volunteer training has same information, below.

    1. Welcome Screen: User automatically advances after clicking “Continue” on intro message (or if coming back into the course, either can click “Continue From Where I Left” or “Start Over”, but either way will be automatically advanced.

    2. Intro Video: Must watch video before next is enabled; user is automatically advanced once video is complete.

    3. Welcome: After audio a video will appear. After finished watching the video, next will become enabled.

    4. Section 1 Intro: Must listen to audio before next is enabled.

    5. Stats: Must listen to audio before automatically moved to next slide.

    6. Types of Abuse: Must click all four types of abuse, then an activity starts. Must complete drag and drop activity before next is enabled.

    7. Family Characteristics: Must click each of the 10 pictures before next is enabled. Checkmarks will appear on pictures that have been clicked.

    8. Profiles of Abusers: Must go through all 10 questions and view end note before next is enabled.

    9. Strategies of Child Abusers: Must listen to each of the four strategies scenarios/explanations before next is enabled.

    10. Child on Child Abuse: Must answer T/F at beginning, then click the 7 buttons that appear before next is enabled. Checkmarks appear on buttons that have been clicked.

    11. Normal Sexual Behavior: Must go through each age group and complete the activity within it before next is enabled. Checkmarks appear on completed age groups.

    12. Section 2 Intro: Must listen to audio before next is enabled.

    13. Program and Staffing Issues: Must watch video at beginning, then click each of the 8 buttons before next is enabled. Checkmarks appear in the top left corners of buttons once they’re clicked.

    14. Facility Policies: Only one category. After finished looked at that section, next will become enabled.

    15. Appropriate Touching Part 1: Must listen to scenario. As scenario progresses, buttons must be pressed to continue scenario. When scenario/audio is complete, “Done” button appears. User can click “Done” or next button to move forward.

    16. Appropriate Touching Part 2: Must click through all three examples before next is enabled. “Sitting on Your Lap” section has a video that must be watched. A question pops up during video, as well, that must be answered.

    17. Showing Affection: All five guidelines must be clicked, and all information within each guideline must be listened to, before next is enabled. For Guidelines 1 and 3, there is a quick drag and drop activity that must be completed as well. Checkmarks appear on completed guidelines’ buttons.

    18. Code of Conduct: All pieces of the code of conduct must be clicked. When a piece has been completed, it will appear as a solid color with text. Once all are clicked, a pop-up requiring them to download the code of conduct appears. After that, next is enabled.

    19. Section 3 Intro: Must listen to audio before next is enabled.

    20. How to Respond: Must watch video. During video, suggestions will appear for the user to read. Users must manually continue video by clicking buttons that prompt them to do so. Once video is complete, next will be enabled.

    21. Common Ways Kids Disclose: Must click three most common ways and listen to scenarios before next is enabled. Checkmarks appear on completed sections when user returns to main screen following each scenario.

    22. Making the Report: Must watch video at beginning, then click each of the 6 “steps” buttons that appear (buttons are circles, like timeline). Checkmarks will appear on step circles once they are complete.

    23. The First 24 Hours: Must watch video at beginning, then click each of the 6 steps before next is enabled. When next is clicked, “Final Thoughts” video (from Executive Director of Child Care) pops up, which must be watched. Then, the user is prompted to click next again, which this time will take them to the next page.

    24. Signature Page: Must listen to instructions audio before next is enabled. Users are also asked to submit the form here. The form is hosted on our site; they must check off the properties and click Submit. Submission of the form, however, does not affect the next button becoming enabled. It is separate.

    25. Final thoughts: Must watch video, then next steps appear.
