Harrisburg Area YMCA New Employee Orientation:
2 required courses (NEO and Listen First)

Part I: New Employee Orientation

  1. Welcome: Must click on continue, then listen to all audio.

  2. CEO Intro: Must watch the video that auto-plays. After, another video will pop-up that also must be watched. After both have ended, can click next to continue.

  3. Y Mission: The slide will auto play. After it finishes, next will become enabled.

  4. Y Voice: The slide will auto play. It will auto move to the next page, Core Values, after the audio is complete.

  5. Core Values: Must click on each of the tile sections (4 total) before next is enabled. All audio must be listened to before being able to click next. Checkmarks will appear on each of the core value’s pictures once audio is complete.

  6. Timeline: Must click each of the orange circles on the red bar. There are 8 total, and all audio for each must be listened to before next will become enabled. After, a popup about the YMCA today will appear, and all audio must be completed. After this audio finishes, next will become enabled.

  7. Branches: Must click each of the branches to the left (4 total.) You must listen to all audio to receive a checkmark for that branch. After all the checks appear, next will become enabled.

  8. Code of Conduct: Page has 10 different tabs on the right. Must click each. Upon clicking each one, a checkmark will appear on that tab. After all 10 tabs have checkmarks, next will become enabled.

  9. Harrisburg Mission: After the intro audio, “MISSION” will appear in letters on the left side of the screen. Each letter must be rolled over with the mouse. New information will appear next to each letter and in the speech bubble above the image. After each letter has been rolled over, and all information has been viewed, next will become enabled.

  10. Diversity: The slide will auto play. After it finishes, next will become enabled.

  11. Harassment Policy: This section has 4 subsections. You must click the tabs at the bottom right of the shape on screen to move between sub-sections.

    1. Harassment will not be tolerated - Listen to all audio and then you may move on by clicking the tab in the bottom right, like before.

    2. Reporting a Claim -You must listen to brief line of audio, then read the information on the screen. Click the yellow-orange tab at bottom right of shape to move on.

    3. Confidentiality - Again, must listen to audio, then read the information on screen. Click the yellow tab at bottom right of shape.

    4. Corrective Action - Have to listen to audio, then read information on screen. Next will become enabled after audio is complete.

  12. Employee Handbook: After the intro audio, each of the tabs of the handbook (on right side of screen) will become enabled. They must listen to all audio to complete each of the 11 tabs. A white checkmark will appear on each completed tab. Next will become enabled after all 11 tabs are complete.

  13. Organization Structure: Audio will auto-play. After it finishes, next will become enabled.

  14. Employee Safety: This section has 4 subsections. Learner must click the tabs at the top of the screen to move between sub-sections.

    1. Accidents & Injuries: 4 buttons appear on the screen, labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 for the steps to follow when an injury occurs . Each must be clicked for this subsection to be marked as completed.

    2. BBP: 3 buttons appear on the left of the screen. They are: Bloodborne Pathogens Definition, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and If Exposed. Each has audio that must be completed. After all 3 have checkmarks, this subsection will be marked as completed.

      1. The “If Exposed” section has additional requirements beyond just listening to the audio. 4 buttons appear in this section that must be clicked. When the information is revealed, and the audio is complete, a checkmark will appear on the “If Exposed” button.

    3. Safety Data Sheets (SDS): 3 buttons appear on the left of the screen. They are: SDS contains, When to consult the SDS, and Reading the SDS. Each one has different requirements for completion, listed below. Once each is complete, there will be a checkmark that appears on the top left of each button. Once all three checkmarks are showing, SDS section is complete.

      1. SDS Contains has 3 buttons that must be clicked within it

      2. When to consult the SDS - must listen to all audio

      3. Reading the SDS has 16 buttons that must be clicked

    4. Additional Trainings: This subsection has some audio regarding additional trainings for the future. When audio is over, this subsection will be marked as completed.

  15. YMCA Gifts: 6 images will appear that take up this entire slide. Each must be clicked, revealing a small fact related to that image. After each fact is revealed, next will become enabled.

  16. Signature Page: They must listen to the audio and complete the form on screen before continuing. Next will become enabled after the audio is complete.

  17. Next steps: This page contains instructions to download a PDF containing information regarding more trainings that must be taken through the Redwoods Institute.

Part II: Listen First

  1. Welcome: Must click on continue, then listen to all audio.

  2. What is Listen First?: Must listen to all audio in on this page, and then next will become enabled.

  3. Obesity Trends: There is an intro popup where you must listen to some audio. After the audio is complete, a button labeled, “Obesity Trends in the United States” will be become enabled to begin the section. You will first see a map from 1985. This section contains several different maps, each with audio that must be completed. After the audio has completed for each map, you must click the large arrow on the right of the screen to move to the next map. When you’ve reached the map for 2012, and the audio has completed, next will become enabled.

  1. What is a Health Seeker?: First, there is some introductory audio. When the pie chart appears (labeled Population breakdown), click the pie chart graphic to continue. For the pie chart section, you must listen to the audio. After it is complete, click each of the 3 popups (20%, 10%, and 70%). Within each of the popups is more audio that you must listen to. After the audio has finished within each of the popups, a close button will appear in the bottom left corner to close the popup. Then, back on the pie chart graphic, a checkmark will be revealed on that section you just completed. After all 3 sections have been completed, and all 3 checkmarks are showing, next will become enabled.

  2. People Activity: (Who is a Health Seeker?) The first part of this section has some audio. After the audio finishes, a blue button labeled “Health Seeker Quiz” will appear. Click that to begin the activity:

    1. Activity instructions will appear. After listening to the audio, click the gray Begin button.

    2. If you need to read the instructions again once the intro popup has disappeared, click “Need some help?” at the top of the page under the title.

    3. This activity has 7 statements. Click the “what type of person this does statement describe” button to the right of each of the statements to cycle through the different types of people that are being descibed. So, for example, if they click one time, it will show Health Seeker, two times will show Committed to Exercise, and three times will show Happy as is. They click until the appropriate response is showing for each statement at left. Once each of the 7 statements has a response, a submit button will appear above the box with the answers. They click this button to submit their responses and check their answers. Each answer will show a green check (correct response) or red x (incorrect response). If they missed any, a “show correct answers” button will appear above the responses. They must click this to show the correct answers. After, feedback will appear for each statement that was wrong and next will become enabled. If they get them all right, the popup at the top will just say, “Great job! You may now click next to continue!” and next will become enabled.

  3. Health Seeker Obstacles: This page has 8 pictures of obstacles for health seekers. You do not need to fully listen to the intro audio to begin viewing them. You must click on each image to view a small piece of information about each one. To exit the popups, you will click the close button in the bottom right corner. Then a checkmark will appear. After all 8 have been viewed and there are checkmarks for each, then next will become enabled.

  4. Overcoming Obstacles: There are 4 images on this page. Click each of them and listen to all the audio associated with that image before clicking another. After the audio is complete, a checkmark will appear on that image. Once you’ve listened to all audio for each of the 4 sections, next will become enabled.

  5. Communicating with Health Seekers: This entire page is audio with images and text coming in and out. You will not need to click anything. After audio is over, click next to continue.

  6. Communication Skill - Questions: The page starts with some intro audio. Then, click on the blue boxes (Closed Questions, Open Ended Questions). Each question type has some audio associated with it that you must listen to. Once both are complete, a purple button will appear at the bottom center of the page to take you to an activity.

To complete this activity and move on, you must provide correct answers. There are boxes to the left and right of the screen (for categories, Open and Close Ended) with questions in the middle. Drag each question to the box so that it is in the appropriate question type box. If you miss any questions, you will be provided with the correct answers and then must retry the activity. Once you’ve gotten them all correct, you must listen to some feedback, and then next will become enabled.

  1. Communication Skill - The 5 Why’s: After intro audio is complete, you must click the red/marooon button on the screen that says “Next”. This is not the same as the normal next button part of the player. This one is in the middle of the screen, at bottom left of the yellow box. The button is a red/maroon color.
    After clicking the aforementioned next button, 3 images will appear. Each must be clicked, and each contains a video. After you finish each video, a close button will appear to take you back to watch the other videos. After watching all three videos, outro audio will play. You must listen to it before being able to click next to continue.

  2. Communication Skill - Listening & Hypothesis: This entire section is audio. You must listen to everything and next will become enabled at the end.

  3. Communications Skill - Gordon’s Example Videos: The section starts with a video that must be watched. After, a popup appears with audio that must be completed. Then, a second video appears that must be watched as well. After that, another popup will appear with some audio. After the second popup’s audio is completed, you can click next to continue.

  4. What have you Learned?: This section has 4 buttons to be clicked, as a review of this course. The four buttons are: Right Questions, Why 5 Times, Empathetic Listening, and Gordon’s Hypothesis. The buttons appear on the left side of the screen. You must click each of them and listen to the audio for each, then a checkmark will appear. Once you’ve listened to all audio and all checkmarks are showing, there will be a final popup with audio. Once that audio is complete, the next button will become enabled.

  5. Signature Page: You must listen to the audio and complete & submit the form on screen before continuing. NEXT will become enabled after the audio is complete.
