Types of Abuse

After some introductory audio, the pie chart will become clickable. There are 4 types of abuse that must be visited to view further information. The “Other Maltreatment” section does not have any additional information to view, and cannot be clicked. Each other section (Neglect, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and Emotional Abuse) has a popup that appears, After you close the popup, a checkmark will appear at top right (where types of abuse are listed) to mark completion for that type of abuse. When all four types of abuse are complete, and all four checkmarks are showing, next will become enabled.

Indicators Activity

After the introductory audio, the “Begin” button will become enabled. Click this button to start the activity.

There is a word bank on the left side of the page, made up of indicators that a child may be in an abusive situation. To the right and bottom of the page, there are 5 boxes, one to represent each type of abuse, and a fifth box to represent indicators that are common for all types of abuse. Each indicator on the left must be dragged into its appropriate box. You will have 60 seconds to do your best to match each indicator with its type of abuse. When all of the indicators have been moved into a box, a submit button will appear above the word bank box. Click the submit button to submit your answers, and see the correct responses. If the timer runs out, you will be shown the correct responses automatically. Feedback will appear. Read it, then you may click the next button to move on.

Child-on-Child Abuse

The slide will begin with a true or false question to which you must respond. You will get some feedback based on your response. After the feedback audio is complete, 5 buttons will appear. Each must be viewed before next will become enabled.

High Risk Areas - Child-on-Child Abuse

There are 8 polaroid pictures on this page. After the intro audio is complete, click each polaroid to open up additional information about these high risk areas. From each popup, click the “x” in the right hand corner to exit. After an image is viewed, the polaroid picture on the page will turn grey. After all images have changed to grey, next will become enabled.

Red Flags of Child-on-Child Abuse

A display with 4 tabs will appear (Bullying, Sexualized behavior & language, Mixed-age groups, Uneven power dynamics). After the introductory audio finishes, each of the tabs must be clicked and listened to in their entirety. After each tab has been listened to, it will turn a darker color to be marked as completed. After all have changed color, a new tab at the bottom of the display will appear labeled “Take Action”. This must be clicked, and will open another new display with some audio. After this audio completes, next will become enabled.
